see you there // meet me here: echoes of eau claire

Saturday, May 31st

The New Gallery is pleased to present “see you there // meet me here: echoes of eau claire” curated by Jessica Szeto, featuring artists Danny Luong, Brady Fullerton & Stephen Chan on view at The New Gallery Main Space from May 23 – July 12, 2025.

Join us on May 31st from 7-9PM at The New Gallery for the open reception of “see you there // meet me here: echoes of eau claire”.

In May of 2024, the Eau Claire Market in downtown Calgary shut its doors forever. With mixed feelings, some considered the building’s demolition a great loss, while others bid it good riddance. All the while, through video, sound and photography, curator Jessica Szeto and artists Danny Luong, Brady Fullerton and Stephen Chan documented the building’s final moments. “see you there // meet me here: echoes of eau claire” captures the complex history of the Eau Claire Market, a building whose identity had continually shifted over the years. Szeto’s exhibition explores methods of archiving a collective memory while making space for complicated feelings surrounding loss and mourning.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
