Roy Forbes is one of Canada’s best loved songwriters and performing artists. The last few years have been a challenge for Roy. Having dealt with poor vision all his life, Roy was blinded by an accident in 2015. He may have lost his sight but not his vision. As Roy began getting used to a life without site, new songs began to emerge – full of wisdom, confessions, vulnerability, sensuality, self-reflection and celebration. Roy’s voice is still every bit as original as when the “kid full of dreams” first hit the big city over fifty years ago.
As Roy’s first album, “Kid Full Of Dreams” turns 50 in October, he’ll include a handful of tunes from that Bim LP in these shows. The record has some serious Edmonton roots. Many of the songs were road tested and developed at Edmonton coffeehouses like the Hovel as well as CKUA radio shows like Holger Petersen’s “ACME Sausage”.
