Rosebud Open-Air Concert Festival

Sunday, August 18th

Enjoy a gorgeous summer’s day full of great music and delicious food, featuring Rosebud’s Lewis & Royal, Alberta’s favourite troubadour, John Wort Hannam, and all the way from Newfoundland, The Irish Descendants.

Bring your lawn chair, a hat, and sit back and enjoy. Take-away food will be available at the Mercantile and there will be a beer tent featuring local breweries. This is an all-weather event.

Lewis & Royal
Lewis & Royal’s first project was composing CHICKENS, a runaway musical hit combining blues, bluegrass and old-time rock. No strangers to Rosebud, they have toured and performed across the country, including Calgary’s Jack Singer concert hall and iconic Saddledome.

John Wort Hannam
In 2001, folk-roots musician John Wort Hannam quit his teaching job and spent 10 months depleting his savings while sat at his kitchen table, wearing a lucky hat, writing his first ten songs. Eighteen years later, following a JUNO nomination and a Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Album of the Year, he’s filled with new energy fueled by a new band, a new sound and a ton of new songs.

The Irish Descendants
The Irish Descendants played a pivotal role in introducing traditional Newfoundland music to a broader Canadian audience during the early 1990s. Their authentic renditions of timeless tunes from the East Coast, blended with an Irish twist, have made them a cherished part of Canada’s folk music scene. They were chosen as the official band for Newfoundland and Labrador’s 500th-anniversary celebrations, where they had the honour of performing for Her Majesty the Queen.

Schedule:
4pm: Lewis & Royal
5:45pm: John Wort Hannam

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
