Roberto Devereux at Festival Place
Roberto Devereux is loosely based on the life of Roberto Devereux, the 2nd Earl of Essex, an influential member of the court of Queen Elizabeth I of England. The performance will feature professional and emerging artists from Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto, under the music direction of William Shookoff. The project began as a collaboration between Opera by Request (Toronto) and Calgary Concert Opera Company in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee. While performing in the Alberta performances in September, I decided to bring the production to Edmonton.
