River City Big Band

Edmonton-based River City Big Band is one of the premier jazz big bands in Alberta. Special guests who have joined the band along the way include Juno Award winning artists Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Mike Murley, and Bobby Cairns. The River City Big Band has also provided accompaniment to featured Canadian performers such as Kent Sangster, Mallory Chipman, Two Blue, and Maria Manna, plus international talent such as Jens Lindemann, Eric Marienthal, Wayne Bergeron, Carol Welsman, Wycliffe Gordon, and Simone. The band’s repertoire is extensive, ranging from the big band standards of Duke Ellington and Stan Kenton to the music of today’s most popular contemporary jazz composers, Including Edmonton’s-own internationally-renowned Allan Gilliland.
