Remembrance Day Film Screening

Tuesday, November 11th

This Remembrance Day, join the Royal Alberta Museum for a film screening of Cree Code Talker, a film that recognizes the role of Canadian Cree code talker Charles ‘Checker’ Tomkins during the Second World War. As Canadian law criminalized Indigenous languages, Cree was being used in World War II to save lives. This film captures a mixture of interviews, rare audio, archival documents, war footage, and a brother’s memories. An homage to a forgotten war hero.

In addition to the film RAM will be displaying objects from other Indigenous veterans who have contributed to Canadas War effort during The Second World War.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
