Physics for Poets

Telus World of Science Edmonton IMAX Theatre presents “Physics for Poets” , a new feature film by Edmonton filmmaker Gina Payzant with an original music score by Darrin Hagen.

The story takes place in 1633 on a conflict-filled night when astronomer Galileo must decide if he will travel from Florence to Rome the next day. Galileo has been summoned to appear before the Inquisitional Council and face the wrath of the Catholic Church. Galileo has challenged Church doctrine with his observations that Earth is not the centre of the Universe. Speaking his truth to power in 1633 draws many parallels to the anti-science chaos of 2026.
