Peaks + Prairies Ensemble Live in Banff: Pictures at an Exhibition

Sunday, December 1st

Join the Peaks + Prairies Ensemble for a vibrant classical music concert featuring a dynamic mix of chamber music for piano + strings – featuring special guest artists from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra

The highlight of the programme will be the North-American premiere of Mussorgsky’s monumental masterwork, Pictures at an Exhibition, in an innovative new arrangement for piano and string quintet by Rudolf Leopold, bringing a dynamic reimagining of Mussorgsky’s vivid musical imagery

The first half will shine a spotlight on two remarkable chamber compositions by women composers: Dora Pejačević’s lush Piano Quintet, showcasing Romantic emotive melodies and harmonic depth, followed by Florence Price’s spirited Scherzo from her Piano Quintet, beautifully infused with the rich cultural heritage of African-American idioms.

Artists: Lev Nesterov & Elisa Milner (violins), Michael Bursey (viola), Daniel Poceta (cello), Matt Heller (bass), Oksana Yaremchuk (piano)

In partnership with: St. George in the Pines Anglican Church (Banff)

TICKETS: $25 General Admission

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
