Oscar Nominated Short Films: Animation

Monday, February 24th

Presented by the Edmonton International Film Festival Society.

An exclusive 1-night screening of the five (5) nominated short films in the Animation category.

The 2025 OSCAR® Nominated Animated Shorts (runtime: 90-mins.) are another incredible collection of divergent artists working in the field of animation. Stop-motion sojourns to Turkey in search of confidence, a silent window into familial relationships rocked by trauma and PTSD, and three very different stories about the innocence and wonder of youth. Once again, the nominated filmmakers in the Animation category inspire and delight with their creations.

The films…

  • Beautiful Men – Dir: Nicolas Keppens (18-mins.) Belgium/France/Netherlands (Flemish, Dutch, & Turkish w/subs)
  • In the Shadow of the Cypress – Dirs: Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani (20-mins.) Iran
  • Magic Candies – Dir: Daisuke Nishio (21-mins.) Japan (Japanese w/subs)
  • Wander to Wonder – Dir: Nina Gantz (14-mins.) Netherlands/Belgium/France/UK
  • Yuck! – Dir: Loïc Espuche (13-mins.) France (French w/subs)

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
