New Romantics

Sunday, February 9th

“New Romantics” is a string nonet concert celebrating the love each of us has for treasured places or experiences, a love that burns as brightly in our memories as the connections we feel to the people who have shaped us.

The concert features the world premiere of “Unsung Legacies”, Concerto for Dizi and Strings by Edmonton composer Lai Cheukman Joseph. Flautist Jiajia Li, known for her virtuosic artistry and expressive interpretations, will bring this work to life by blending the rich tones of three traditional Chinese dizi flutes with the ensemble’s strings.

The concert will also feature String Quartet in E Minor by Ina Boyle, a rediscovered treasure from one of Ireland’s most significant yet overlooked composers, as well as music by Dvořák and Snowden.

Free admission for students up to 18!

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
