Maria Dunn

Friday, January 9th

A true preserver of the spirit of folk music, 2022 JUNO Award winner Maria Dunn is often compared to Woody Guthrie for her keen social awareness and unvarnished, melodic songs about ordinary people.

Maria celebrates her 8th independent album “Hardscrabble Hope” at the Ironwood with an uplifting evening of music and storytelling.

The concert features finely crafted songs rooted in family, community, and the love that drives us to build a better world—brought to life with rich arrangements, compelling vocals, and superb musicianship.

The four-piece ensemble also includes “Hardscrabble Hope” producer Shannon Johnson (violin, harmonies), Jeremiah McDade (saxophone, whistles, guitar, harmonies), and Solon McDade (upright bass).

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
