Lori Reid & Sam Steffen

Saturday, October 4th

In service to the sacred sound, Lori Reid believes music is to be felt rather than heard. What began as a recording debut with 2003’s RADIO, developed into a 20 year, 3 album recording residency as one-third founding member of the fates. Now into a second album recording relationship beginning with Temperance Hotel (2012) with Colin Linden, Reid has most recently released Gold, the first single from the forthcoming The Elements (2025).

Sam Steffen is a singer-songwriter whose songs are the torch-wood for a new generation of folk music that has learned from the best stuff in the tradition. Originally from the US, Sam’s versatile musicianship, finger-picking and storytelling has made him an outstanding voice in the Americana folk genre. He has collected a vast arsenal of original music that ranges from the personal to the political. His songs have been featured in radio programs, podcasts, academic lectures, political protests, worship services, bars, restaurants, coffeehouses, concert venues, festivals, street corners, weddings, funerals and living rooms. He currently lives in Edmonton with his wife and dog.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
