Let’s talk about … making room

Monday, August 3rd - Tuesday, August 4th

“Housing has become the frontline defense against the coronavirus. Home has rarely been more of a life or death situation.”
– Leilani Farha, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing

PUSH is a film about housing and affordability. Filming Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing over two years, the director notes that “words like gentrification are not sharp enough at describing the issue.” The film is shown on Monday August 3rd at 6 pm.

If housing is a right, what’s the path to a more equitable city that houses all? How do diversity and mixed housing options coexist within a neighbourhood? Join the Calgary Public Library in partnership with d.talks, for a discussion about housing, inclusion and the challenges involved in making room so that everyone has a stable roof. The discussion takes place on Tuesday August 4th at 6 pm.
