Sound Atlas Festival Day 1

Featured Festival Artists:
Latitude 49
Parker Ramsay (solo harp set)
Land’s End Ensemble

Day 1 kicks off the 2024 Sound Atlas Festival with three distinct and remarkable acts. New music powerhouse band Latitude 49 kicks it off with Marc Mellits’ funky “Blackitude” heard for the first time in Canada, a feature performance by the Contemporary Performance Lab fellows of Sarah Kirkland Snider’s “You Are Free” and the world premiere of Canadian composer Evan Ware’s “Checking Out”. Parker Ramsay will defy expectations in his solo set for harp and electronics featuring music by Tom Morrison. Finally, Calgary’s own Juno-nominated Land’s End Ensemble will present an infectious trio by Mason Bates and a special performance of featured composer Jared Miller’s “Leviathan”. Prepare to be astonished, and we are just getting started!

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we’d love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
