Wintersongs

Saturday, December 7th

Canadian singer-songwriter, pianist and CBC Music national radio host Laila Biali is delighted to be bringing her brand new project Wintersongs to Alberta – the very homeland where most of these numbers were conceived! Laila released her stunning album on November 1st and will be performing music from Wintersongs as part of a 12-date concert tour titled Wintersongs and Holiday Classics.

Three-years in the making, Wintersongs is a dream come true for Laila, particularly in working with Rob Mathes who she knows through her work with Sting. The new album and the concert tour is inspired by a writing retreat Laila experienced in the heart of Canada’s Rocky Mountains at the Banff Centre. The music is her love letter to this magical season and all the gifts that it brings.

Performances feature an all-star ensemble including Jane Bunnett (saxophone/flute), Rebekah Wolkstein, Shannon Knights, Amahl Arulanandam (strings), Dan Fortin (bass) and Ben Wittman (drums). The concert will showcase original material alongside arrangements of beloved secular and sacred classics.

Come warm-up your early winter.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
