Keeping The Blues Alive: Garret T. Willie With Markus Trummer

Saturday, August 3rd

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebration, The Commercial – Home of Blues On Whyte presents a Keeping The Blues Alive showcase of Canada’s freshest Blues talent, Garret T. Willie with special guest Marcus Trummer!

Hailing from Kingcome Inlet, British Columbia, Garret T. Willie is set to deliver a formidable 21st-century kick to rock ‘n’ roll with his wild, heartbreaking, and hilarious stories. While his life of serious hardships grants him the right to sing the blues, it’s Willie’s rock ‘n’ roll spirit, wisdom, wit, and world-weariness beyond his 23 years that truly defines his essence on stage.

Marcus Trummer, a young artist from Calgary, blends blues, soul, R&B, and rock into a modern sound rich in tradition, earning praise from the Calgary Herald as “a precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness.” With accolades such as the Blues Recording of the Year at Calgary’s YYC Music Awards and winning the Telluride Blues Challenge, Trummer is solidifying his place as a compelling live performer and a rising star in the blues and soul music scenes.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
