Katarina String Quartet

Monday, December 2nd

From Juilliard to Medicine Hat: The Katarina String Quartet

One of Canada’s leading young string quartets is performing at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church on December 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

The concert is suitable for listeners of all ages with works by Haydn, Beethoven and living Canadian composer, Vivian Fung. “The program invites participants to tap into the present musical moment. Evocative silences in each work draw our ear to what is both around and within us.”

The Katarina String Quartet is currently the “Graduate String Quartet in Residence” at the Juilliard School of Music. Formed in 2022 at the Schulich School of Music in Montreal, KSQ are recent Gold Medal winners of the 2024 St. Paul Chamber Music Competition and first-prize winners of the 2023 Canadian Music Competition. As one of the members grew up in Calgary, the quartet is undertaking a mini tour of Alberta with performances in Camrose, Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Admission is by donation with rush seating.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
