Joni MacFarlane

Friday, November 7th

Get ready for a reading like no other. Crowsnest Pass author Joni MacFarlane will be creating a WWII vibe with music in the background, dim lights, and a few props. She’ll be handing out a “spy dossier” to everyone where they have to listen to clues and solve a (very easy) question to win a wee prize. Of course there will still be a reading and Q&A about her book Alliance of Deception.

In 1943, while Switzerland’s cloak of neutrality grows heavy, the small mountain town of Davos has become a hotbed of Allied spies, Jewish refugees, interned American pilots, and German officers. Lonely and insecure, Susanne stumbles upon the whereabouts of a famous painting that could be used to end the war. As she works to reveal the painting’s secret, she soon learns her husband, Christian, has been struggling with his own quest for redemption. Together, they must outwit those who want to keep the secret hidden from Nazi Germany. Who do you trust? And who do you run from? Suspenseful, exciting, and utterly gripping, Alliance of Deception will have you reading late into the night.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
