John Hewitt & the New Americans with Abigayle Oakley

Abigayle Oakley:
From Las Vegas to Nashvegas, Abigayle Oakley blends the melodic richness of folk pioneers with the lyrical honesty of today’s confessional singer-songwriters. Her songs explore the complexities of life and the existential questions that shape us, often with a sharp, tongue-in-cheek wit that adds layers of humor and insight.
Abigayle is a recent winner of the Kerrville New Folk Competition. She has toured the US and Canada opening for acts such as The War and Treaty, Jed and The Valentine, Forest Blakk and more. She co-produced and released her debut EP “Vegas” in 2022, debut album “Recovering Optimist” in 2023, and is currently working on releasing another EP due in early 2026. When not writing, practicing, or performing, you can find Abigayle hiking the beautiful hills of Tennessee.
John Hewitt:
John Hewitt is often considered one of the hardest working musicians and touring songwriters in Western Canada. Performing over 150 shows per year, managing an agency and production company (Second Sunset) and producing 9 full length studio albums and a book since March of 2020 it’s easy to see why. With recent appearances at Alberta Showcase, Your Roots Are Showing (Ireland) and Breakout West alongside major Festival appearances like Edmonton Folk Fest, Canmore Folk Fest, Red Lodge and Whitefish Songwriter Festivals his lyrical imagery and melodic hooks are a staple in the west. Taking inspiration from Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Neil Young and Jim Croce in his writing alongside Beat Poets and the honest tradition of true folk music you’ll hear old tales of prairie murder, Canadian and American historical stories marinated with poetic imagery reminiscent of the poets of the 60’s folk revival.
