Artemis

Monday, June 23rd

JazzYYC and NMC are proud to present the Calgary debut of ARTEMIS, an all-star ensemble featuring some of the most powerful voices in modern jazz. At the heart of this dynamic group are two of Canada’s most celebrated jazz artists — pianist Renee Rosnes and trumpeter Ingrid Jensen — both internationally recognized as among the best in the world.

About ARTEMIS:

Fresh off their second consecutive win for “Jazz Group of the Year” in the Downbeat Readers Poll, ARTEMIS arrives in Calgary following the release of their third Blue Note album, ARBORESQUE (Feb. 28, 2025). A testament to collaboration, creativity, and the beauty of nature, this album further solidifies ARTEMIS’ place at the forefront of contemporary jazz.

Each member of ARTEMIS is a virtuoso bandleader and composer in their own right, shaping a collective sound that is bold, sophisticated, and deeply expressive. From riveting originals to inventive takes on a diverse repertoire, their music embodies passion, power, and high-wire intensity.

Hailed by NPR as “a killer line-up of players, composers, and performers… converging on an extremely cosmopolitan, sleek, rhythm-forward, modern sound,” ARTEMIS has captivated audiences at major festivals and venues worldwide, from Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center to the Newport Jazz Festival.

Don’t miss this chance to witness ARTEMIS live in Calgary for the first time — a night of unparalleled musicianship from some of jazz’s most electrifying performers.

Band members: Renee Rosnes (piano), Ingrid Jensen (trumpet), Nicole Glover (tenor sax), Noriko Ueda (bass), and Allison Miller (drums).

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
