Jah’kota Concert

Friday, June 21st

Don’t miss an evening of song with Jah’kota, an Afro-Indigenous hip-hop and R&B artist, in the Jenny Belzberg Theatre for one night only!

Stay after the concert for a meet and greet in the lobby.

Jah’kota is an Afro-Indigenous artist, entrepreneur, and wealth coach. His father is from Kingston, Jamaica and his mother is Nakota from Ocean Man First Nation, part of the Treaty 4 boundary. He was born and raised in Winnipeg and now lives full time in the Očeti Šagowin territory known as the Saskatchewan prairies. Jah’kota has reached number one on the Indigenous music countdown for his song WOKE, which was nominated for best rap hip hop album of the year for the Indigenous Music Awards. His track “Welcome to the Matriarch” was nominated for a Native American Music Award. Justin “Jahkota” Holness uses music as a way to amplify the message of self-determination and strives to empower the welfare of people and the planet.

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity invites you to participate in National Indigenous History Month! Join in June for a series of free events that include activities including Storytelling, Dance Workshop, Online Marketplace and Film Screenings, as well as partner events at the Town of Banff and Canmore artsPlace.

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we’d love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
