Il Barcheggio

Saturday, February 1st

Early Music Alberta presents: “Il Barcheggio”

Alison Zdunich – Baroque Violin
Gabriele Thielmann-Vriend – Baroque Violin
Hannah Pagenkopf – Soprano (Calgary)
Leanne Regehr – Harpsichord
Josephine van Lier – Baroque Cello
Frédéric Payant – Baroque Trumpet

This program showcases the baroque trumpet’s radiant brilliance alongside the soprano’s expressive clarity, supported by the rich textures of strings and continuo. On the program are Scarlatti’s lively 7 Arie, Viviani’s Sonata No. 2, and Stradella’s evocative Il Barcheggio, among other gems. Telemann’s Trio Sonata in E minor (TWV 42:e8) provides a moment of introspection. The evening also features three of Handel’s beautiful German arias and the exuberant close of his Cantata HWV 143.

Tickets available online or at the door, cash/credit accepted. In person and Livestream option available. Please note, there is no late admittance, doors close at 7:30pm. https://www.earlymusicalberta.ca/season-2024-2025/

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
