Holden Village Picnic

Sunday, August 23rd

A great day out in the country! A potluck at noon followed by two 45 minute sets each by the Western Thistles and Jed and the Valentine.
Holden Community Hall, one hour east of Edmonton.
Food starts at noon, music at one o’clock, concludes at quarter to five.

Tickets $20 at villagepicnic.com

If we can get enough people out, this can become an annual event of great music in a great little village. The idea is to create a Chautauqua in this rural environment, building a progressive movement promoting the arts in rural Alberta. Drawing inspiration from Rosebud, the community near Calgary that has marketed itself as a cultural destination, I believe Holden is positioned to become a resort community full of artists and retirees, drawing on its strength of being such a pristine environment just an hour from the big city. On August 23rd, it starts with a small concert with two awesome bands from Edmonton, but it could turn into so much more. But we desperately need your support to make this a success.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
