Henk Kraaijeveld

“Certainly a very bright spot on today’s map of jazz in Europe.” – JazzSoul (Poland)
Award-winning Dutch vocalist Henk Kraaijeveld brings a bold and poetic voice to the European jazz scene—literally and figuratively. Known for his warm tone, playful stage presence, and fearless musicality, Henk blends lyrical storytelling, rich harmonies, and improvisation in ways that surprise and connect. A rare male voice in modern jazz with an adventurous spirit, he creates soundscapes that invite reflection while pushing the boundaries of vocal jazz.
Inspired by artists like Sting, Pat Metheny, and Bobby McFerrin—and the timeless wisdom of Sufi poet Rumi—Henk has released two acclaimed albums: Passengers (2018) and Patches of Sky (2023). His powerful live performances and thought-provoking lyrics have earned him a reputation for “socially engaged vocal acrobatics” (Nederlands Dagblad).
With saxophonist Paul van der Feen of the Metropole Orkest and a dynamic rhythm section, the Henk Kraaijeveld Quintet has graced iconic stages like Amsterdam’s BIMhuis and TivoliVredenburg, and toured across Germany, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and South Korea. Their JazzYYC debut promises an unforgettable set filled with deep grooves, free-flowing improvisation, and genuine soul.
