Heart’s Wellspring with Amici String Program
Calgary’s original string ensemble, Kensington Sinfonia, is thrilled to present Heart’s Wellspring, an enchanting music program featuring the inspiring energy of the city’s future classical music stars. This special performance will showcase the incredible talents of the string students from the Amici Strings, collaborating with the Sinfonia’s seasoned musicians.
The concert features a blend of masterpieces, with compositions ranging from the beloved Silver City by beloved Calgary composer George Fenwick with violinist Chanan Ngo who won the 2023 Rose Bowl at the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, to the exquisite Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by the great British composer Vaughan Williams. The programme will also feature the vibrant African Suite by Fela Sewande, a central figure in Nigerian art music, and the Canadian premiere of the young and exciting American composer Quinn Mason’s Petite Symphonie.
As Kensington Sinfonia celebrates its 35th season, the ensemble continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of classical repertoire spanning the Renaissance to Contemporary eras. Comprising professional orchestra members, the Sinfonia offers three concerts per year in a relaxed, intimate setting. Join the Sinfonia and their Artistic Directors, Genevieve Micheletti and Andrea Case, to experience the best that Calgary’s classical music scene has to offer.
