Garneau String Quartet Concert: The Music of Talk

Tuesday, October 1st

Get a season pass and join us for the first concert of the series featuring CBC’s Tom Allen, who returns as host and curator exploring the connection between music and speech. Our season opener includes our world première commission by Nicole Lizée for string quartet, harp, and narrator with harpist Lori Gemmell supported by The Scott Griffin Foundation.

The Garneau String Quartet 2024/25 Concert Series is an intimate and immersive series featuring guest artists such as Angela Cheng, CBC’s Tom Allen, Lori Gemmel, Steve Dann, Cameron Crozman, and members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The quartet is comprised of members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra: violinists Robert Uchida and Laura Veeze, violist Keith Hamm, and cellist Julie Hereish.

Concert Program:
String Quartet in G Major, Op. 33, No. 5 “How do you do?” / F. J. Haydn

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
