Enescu to the Rescue

Monday, May 5th

Join us for the final concert of the season and last Garneau String Quartet Concert in Muttart Hall.

Inspired by the 2023 “Moving Mahler” event that brought Alberta’s orchestras together, the Garneau String Quartet welcomes a brilliant team of musicians from the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. We are thrilled to present the incredibly inspired Octet of George Enescu (composed when he was just 19) with a wonderful ensemble including Diana Cohen, Maria van der Sloot (violins), Jesse Morrison (viola), and Arnold Choi (cello).

The Mendelssohn String Quartet Op. 44 No. 1 is known as one of the most virtuosic quartets of the literature – sparkling and effervescent, this piece is sure to get you bouncing in your seat.

The Garneau String Quartet 2024/25 Concert Series is an intimate and immersive series featuring many gifted musicians. The quartet is comprised of members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra: violinists Robert Uchida and Laura Veeze, violist Keith Hamm, and cellist Julie Hereish.

Concert Program:
Felix Mendelssohn – String Quartet No. 3 in D Major, Op. 44, No. 1
George Enescu – String Octet in C Major, Op. 7

Tickets may also be purchased over the phone at 780−420−1757 or in person at the Edmonton Arts Council Shop & Services, 9930 102 Avenue NW

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
