From A Root A Flower Opens

Sunday, September 28th

Our 25-26 season opens with the highly anticipated return of our favourite guest conductor, Lone Larsen from Sweden. She’ll lead us in From a root a flower opens, a program of traditional repertoire and innovative improvisations. But this isn’t just a concert; it’s a community experience. Lone Larsen will be leading choristers from across the Edmonton area through a series of workshops where they will prepare to contribute a short section to the concert.

We’re also proud to be part of a global initiative, partnering with the International Federation for Choral Music and the UN to bring emerging conductor Oksana Sukhetska from Ukraine to our stage through the Conductors Beyond Borders program.

Look forward to hearing an innovative choral experience with repertoire including:

Tina Andersson – The Angel
Lauma Kazaka – From a root a flower opens skywards
Andrea Tarrodi – Lume
Birgitta Flick – PlanetWoman
Agneta Sköld – Let your light come
Bohdana Frolyak – The Sun is setting
Lone Larsen (Sweden), guest conductor
Oksana Sukhetska (Ukraine), emerging artist* conductor

*Supported by the Ukrainian Millenium Foundation, by Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton, and the International Foundation for Choral Music program ‘Conductors Beyond Borders’ and the UN.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
