Finding Joy…

Saturday, October 4th

The Alberta Society of Artists is pleased to present the group exhibition “Finding Joy in a Dystopian World” featuring the work of artists across Alberta.

There will be an opening reception held on October 4th, 2025, from 1 to 3pm, and the exhibition runs October 4th to November 2nd, 2025 at the Crowsnest Pass Public Art Gallery.

Gallery hours are:

  • Monday – Friday 12pm – 4pm
  • Saturday & Sunday (or Holidays) 1pm – 4 pm.

‘A dystopian world is one that often feels devoid of reason, a reflection of some of the struggles we face today. In such a world, how do we navigate without losing our sense of hope? Can we discover joy through the power of ideas, knowledge, and creativity? Is it possible to imagine a future where compassion, equality, and the resilient human spirit triumph over despair? We invite you to explore and express your vision: what brings you joy, inner peace, and hope in the face of adversity? How do you find light in the darkness? What can we learn from dystopia, and how can we shape a more hopeful future through art?”

“This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” – Leonard Bernstein, on the occasion of the death of President John F. Kennedy.’

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
