Eilidh Shaw & Ross Martin

Friday, February 27th

The Hive House Concerts, along with Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous, presents Birl-esque (Eilidh Shaw & Ross Martin)

Eilidh Shaw and Ross Martin are probably best known for their work with top traditional bands Daimh, The Poozies, and Shooglenifty, but their duo Birl-esque has also been entertaining and delighting audiences for years. They have been at the heart of the Scottish music scene for the last 3 decades, playing and touring all over the globe with some of the best-loved bands and artists in the traditional scene. Eilidh’s distinctive fiddle playing is instantly recognisable, whether charging through a whirlwind set of bagpipe reels or transporting you to the highlands and islands of Scotland with achingly beautiful Gaelic airs, while Ross’s skillful guitar playing is equally as exciting, diverse and soulful. Seamlessly blurring the lines between the traditional and the contemporary with their own maverick, inimitable style, their renowned live performances present a miscellany of heart-warming songs, uplifting tunes and more yarns than a Shetland Jumper. If Single Malt Whisky made a noise, it would sound like this.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
