Edmonton Winds at 50: Close To Home

Sunday, October 26th

The Edmonton Winds are thrilled to present the first concert of their 2025-2026 season, At 50: Close To Home

At 50: Close to Home celebrates two major milestones for the Edmonton Winds: the release of the band’s third studio album and the opening of the ensemble’s 50th year. The concert will feature the music from the album as well as a world premiere commission from Julie Giroux and new music from Pete Meechan.

Produced by MacEwan University record label Bent River Records, Close to Home showcases local composers and performers and other music commissioned by the Edmonton Winds. The album features music by Allan Gilliland, Julie Giroux, Pete Meechan, and Mari Alice Conrad, with a feature performance of Dreaming of the Masters IV by award-winning saxophonist PJ Perry.

The concert will be held at the Triffo Theatre at 2 pm.

Tickets for At 50: Close to Home range from $5 – $20 and are on sale now through Triffo Theatre.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
