Siegfried

Monday, May 25th

Wagner’s Siegfried, the third opera in Richard Wagner’s monumental Ring Cycle follows the coming-of-age journey of its titular hero Siegfried, a fearless but naïve young man destined to play a pivotal role in the fate of gods and mortals.

Raised by the scheming dwarf Mime, Siegfried forges a mighty sword Nothung from the shards of his father’s broken blade and uses it to slay the dragon Fafner, claiming the powerful ring and the treasure it guards. Along the way Siegfried discovers his true heritage and gains a deeper understanding of bravery and love.

Siegfried features the return of Jaclyn Grossman as the heroine Brünnhilde, the debut of Rumbold Vocal Prize winner Alex Halliday as Fafner, and the highly anticipated return of Dion Mazerolle, reprising his acclaimed role as Alberich.

Performances will take place at the Maclab Theatre at the Citadel Theatre on May 25, 27, 29 and 31, 2026. For more information on this and other highlights of the Edmonton Opera’s upcoming season, visit edmontonopera.com

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
