DeRic Starlight Puppet making workshop and Puppet show at Culture Days

Friday, September 20th - Saturday, September 21st

The Allied Arts Council of Pincher Creek, Pincher Creek and District Municipal Library, NAPI Friendship Association and The Pincher Creek Family Centre are proud to share a special weekend of events in Pincher Creek as a recognized Celebration Site for Alberta Culture Days.

We invite you to join us for two fun filled events in September all focused on puppets and play!
Stop by the Lebel Mansion and join us on Friday, September 20th between 1:45-4:30pm in the kids art room where we’ll have supplies galore to create your very own puppets! Parents may be asked to stay with their young puppeteers to assist in the process as our team of puppet makers (aka awesome art instructors) lead the way!
This is a FREE come and go workshop, please be sure to say hello and check in with us at the gift shop!

Join us at the Town Hall Gym on Saturday, September 21st for a special one hour free children’s puppet show by award winning Blackfoot Puppeteer DerRic Starlight!
DerRic is a a Gemini Award winning puppeteer from the Tsuut’ina Nation and has appeared on APTN and most recently has worked on the reboot of Fraggle Rock.
DerRic has his own cast of puppets with an Indigenous focus including Granny, Chief the Warrior, Band Councillor and Jingle Dress Dancer!
Doors will open at the Town Hall Gym at 10:00am where we’ll have a small selection of puppet making supplies for those who couldn’t make it to our free Friday workshop!

DerRic Starlight and his puppet pals will start the show at 11:00am, be sure to come and find a spot at the gym early so you don’t miss out on the fun. We can’t wait to see you. Following the show DerRic will stay for a meet and greet until 1:00pm. Stick around and get your picture taken with this incredible puppeteer!
This weekend of Puppets is part of the celebrations occurring throughout the province during Alberta Culture Days 2024. The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
