Death Bloom Collective Community Night & Open Mic

Tuesday, July 23rd

Join us as artists and community members speak through an open mic about grief, loss, mourning and art. We hope that through sharing our vulnerabilities and acknowledging each other’s humanity that we can connect and work towards healing together. In conjunction with this open mic night, the Death Bloom Collective will share the artwork they have created throughout their Sparrow Artspace Residency! There will also be snacks and refreshments!

Sign up for the open mic will be available in person at the event and will be on a first come first serve basis.

Discussing topics such as death and grief can be hard, that is why members of River West Therapy Collective will be joining us during our community night in order to provide extra support to participants, guests and collaborators.

Death Bloom Collective is a group of seven artists: Rocio Graham, Winona Julian, Jess Richter, Valerie Salez, Katie Wackett, Jay Davani and Claudia Chagoya. Although we work in many different artistic disciplines, themes of death, grieving, loss and healing are a part of all of our artistic practices. We created this collective because we believe that by sharing our work and our message we can inspire connection, growth and healing for ourselves and members of our community.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
