Danish String Quartet Concert Program #2

Monday, February 12th

“There are simply two kinds of string quartets: the Danish, and the others.” — Boston Classical Review

The Danish String Quartet celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2022-23, and the GRAMMY®-nominated quartet continues to assert its preeminence among the world’s finest string quartets. Formed when they were in their teens, they are renowned for impeccable musicianship, sophisticated artistry, exquisite clarity of ensemble, and, above all, an unmatched ability to play as one. Their inventive and intriguing programming and repertoire choices have produced critically acclaimed original projects and commissions as well as popular arrangements of Scandinavian folk music. They are the recipients of many awards and prestigious appointments, including Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust.

Monday night’s program features:
Purcell: Chaconne
Haydn: Quartet in G Minor, Op. 20, No. 3
Shostakovich: SQ No. 7 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 108
Scandinavian folk music

Tickets ($45 for adults, $35 for seniors/students) are still available for purchase online at calgarypromusica.ca or at the Rozsa Centre Box Office up to one hour before the concert.

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
