Còig Trio

Friday, April 4th

With a fiery Celtic style as their musical core, Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen, accompanied by Zakk Cormier, offer a fresh and exhilarating mix of traditional tunes, lively instrumentals and contemporary songs performed on over a dozen instruments (vocals, fiddles, guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles, and more)–in a lot of non-traditional ways!
The musical trio features the superb talents of Rachel Davis on fiddle and vocals, and the musical musings of multi-instrumentalist Darren McMullen, and Zakk Cormier on guitar. With driving rhythms on Acadian foot-percussion, they’re an unparalleled musical force.

With more than a decade of making records and touring the globe behind them, Rachel and Darren have released their long-imagined, and much-anticipated, duo album, Home. Highlighting the pair’s outstanding musicianship and vocals, Home features a superb mix of traditional tunes and songs with original co-writes and signature classics.
Rachel and Darren have assembled a mantle full of awards and nominations for both their solo recordings and with Còig for five recordings, including two Canadian Folk Music Awards, a JUNO nomination, and multiple East Coast Music Awards. Combining traditional folk tunes and contemporary songs, their lively stage show has won them fans across North America, Europe and Australia. They are the best in trad music, in a non-traditional way.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
