Celtara Concert!
Celtara is celebrating 18 years together! Known as a driving force on the prairie Celtic scene, Celtara draws influences from the far reaches of Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia, Brittany, Canada’s East coast and beyond into their uniquely identifiable Canadiana Celtic sound. Rich arrangements, full-bodied vocals and dazzling fiddle, guitar, flute, accordion, percussion and piano, have fused into spirited performances bringing delight to their listeners.
Together since 2004, the band – Bonnie Gregory (fiddle, vocals), Tami Cooper (flute, whistle, vocals), Steven Bell (accordion, piano, vocals), Andreas Illig (guitar, Irish bouzouki), and Mark Arnison (bodhran, world percussion) have been bringing their infectious energy, engaging warmth and humour to sold-out concert halls, intimate house concerts, festivals, and rousing community ceilidh dances. Audiences have described Celtara concerts as “joyous”, “inspiring”, “a timeless and enchanting evening”, and “awesome, beautiful, toe-tapping music.”
Celtara followed their first two releases, Until the Morning Light (2007), and More Than One True Love (2011) with their third album, Seven Long Years in 2018. Recorded in Edmonton with engineer Scott Franchuk, Seven Long Years is a spirited celebration of Celtara’s long-term musical chemistry and creative energy, and resilience through life’s many changes.
Tickets $20 at Birch Garden Cafe or at the door.
