Stories of Impact: Caribbean Oil Workers and the Building of Alberta’s Economy

Join the Royal Alberta Museum this Black History Month as they welcome acclaimed artist, musician, and historian, Donna Coombs-Montrose. With over 20 years dedicated to detailing the stories of the African diaspora, her special program features infusions of song, dance, and live music. This dynamic presentation tells the story of the often under-recognized recruitment of skilled workers from the Caribbean, who played a large role in the dramatic transformation of rural northern Fort McMurray, and Alberta’s oil sands industry from the 1960s – 90s.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
