Calgary Jazz Orchestra: Goin’ Down to New Orleans! & Even We, Get the Blues

Wednesday, June 19th

The Calgary Jazz Orchestra is ready to take you on a journey through two distinct yet deeply intertwined styles: the vibrant music of New Orleans and the soulful blues. The concert will open with New Orleans’ music spanning the eras, and then we will bring on the blues, featuring Tim Williams on guitar/vocals and Donald Ray Johnson on vocals.

Purchase your tickets for a night you can’t afford to miss.

About the Show
Goin’ Down to New Orleans! & Even We, Get the Blues
Presented by Porsche Centre Calgary and Glenmore Audi

Goin’ Down to New Orleans will lead you through the unique swing and groove of New Orleans music, from the beginnings of jazz and second-line music to modern New Orleans funk. The performance will feature Johnny Summers on vocals and highlight the CJO soloists and sections.

Even We, Get the Blues – it’s true! We love the blues. Explore the blues from its roots to what we hear today, featuring music from the 1920s of Howlin’ Wolf to B. B. King and beyond. The CJO, with Johnny Summers on vocals, will be joined by special guests Tim Williams on vocals/guitar and Grammy award-winning Donald Ray Johnson on vocals.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
