Bluegrass Hour Hootenanny and Jam

Sunday, October 26th

On Sunday, the very last day of Fundraiser, it’s the first-ever official Bluegrass Hour Hootenanny!

Starting with a two-hour live broadcast with hosts Darcy Whiteside, Grant Stovel and Amy van Keeken, we then shift into an epic kitchen party.  Bring your banjo and join the jam hosted by Whiteside and Edmonton bluegrass sensations The Bix Mix Boys.

It’s going to be a bluegrass/old time music jam. “Bring your instrument and play along with The Bix Mix Boys,” says Whiteside. “If you don’t have an instrument, bring your voice. If you’re too shy to sing loud, put on your dancing shoes. And if you don’t want to do any of those things… come and be part of the audience. All are welcome.”

Jams involve a special kind of musical magic, says Whiteside.  “It’s spontaneous, alive and being created right in front of you. It only exists in that moment and then it’s gone. That’s why you should come.”

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
