Behind the Scenes at the CKUA Music Library

Wednesday, December 20th

Ever wonder how the music gets on the radio and where all the titles on the playlist come from? Take a peek behind the scenes at CKUA’s extensive Music Library. Dig into the history of recorded music, from cylinders to LPs to reels – even what the heck a wire recorder is. The CKUA Music Library holds recorded music in a variety of formats from the early 1900s to the latest releases from your favourite Albertan and Canadian artists.

Join Arianne Smith-Piquette, Interim Content Director at CKUA Radio, to hear more about the inner workings of the CKUA library, and why radio and libraries matter.

Part of the EPL’s Learn Downtown series.

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we’d love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
