Banana Musik

Tuesday, September 16th - Saturday, September 27th

Banana Musik is a deeply personal work about aging, reciprocity, and care—a love letter to adult (immigrant) children giving back to the parents who sacrificed everything. Through music, storytelling, and memory, Kris Alvarez welcomes audiences into her family home to explore heritage, love, and the bonds between generations. Join Kris and Common Ground for the run of Banana Musik, culminating in a one night only special presentation of Kris’ 4-year variety project Burnt Sienna.

Along with Banana Musik, please also join us for the free Burnt Sienna Workshop Series!

ASL Interpretation is available September 19th & 26th,
Brown Out Night is September 25th, presented in partnership with Concrete Theatre and the Edmonton Chapter of the 3.7% Initiative.

The Backstage Theatre is accessible step-free, and the performance is sensory-friendly. For more access information, please contact sarahemslie@commongroundarts.ca.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we'd love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
