Artist Book-Making: Workshop with Cat Sivertsen

Saturday, July 23rd

This workshop is presented as part of the Artist in Residence Program.

About this Workshop-
In this workshop, Cat will be sharing different material and method processing as well as teaching tricks such as drawing, printmaking, collage, text and water transfer methods. The materials may include working on paper with water-colour crayons, brush and pen with ink, ready-made papers, and natural materials. These materials and methods will then be layered with text and imagery.
Using story as the seed-bed, or starting point, to the making, this workshop will guide you towards a final destination – an artists book.
No experience is necessary – just an open mind with a heart for play.

About the Facilitator –
Arts Council Wood Buffalo welcomes multi-disciplinary/mixed media artist, Cat Sivertsen. With her career spanning 30 years with exhibition, commission and site specific installation projects, she is a visual storyteller, an arts-based educator and advocate of arts as wellness. Having practiced in many places including Canada, the UK and Western Australia, she is grateful to be able to now practice on the unceded traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh (Prince George).

About the Artist in Residence Program –
This Summer, we welcome two resident artists, Cat Sivertsen and Colin Wolf, to the Wood Buffalo region.
The Artist in Residence program follows the traditional residency model, in which non-local professional artists spend time creating work inspired by the environment, culture and people of Wood Buffalo. It is open to artists of any discipline living in Canada.
Stay tuned for announcements as Cat will be showcasing her own art created during her residency nearing the end of July 2022.
