An evening with prize-winning author and Canada Reads Finalist, David Chariandy, in celebration of Black History Month
Please join the Edmonton Public Library in collaboration with the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta for a special reading by David Chariandy.
Of Black and South Asian Caribbean descent, David Chariandy is a member of the Royal Society of Canada and the winner of the prestigious 2019 Windham-Campbell Prize, the 2018 Toronto Book Award, the 2018 Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, and the 2017 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. His works have also been longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, and shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award for English-language Fiction, the Amazon.ca/Books in Canada First Novel Award, and the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize. He has been a board member of the Vancouver Public Library, the Writers Union of Canada, and the National Forum on the Literary Arts.
Chariandy will read from his beautifully crafted books, Soucouyant (2007), Brother (2017), and I Have Been Meaning to Tell You: A Letter to my Daughter (2018). Registration is recommended, but not required.
