Amanda Dunsmore: Agreement – Reception & Artist Talk

Wednesday, June 19th

Join Mitchell Art Gallery on June 19, in celebrating our new exhibition AGREEMENT, featuring artworks from Irish artist Amanda Dunsmore’s research-intensive practice that investigates societal transformation via portraiture. AGREEMENT is on view at Mitchell Art Gallery from May 21 – August 23, 2024.

AGREEMENT features artworks from Irish artist Amanda Dunsmore’s research-intensive practice that investigates societal transformation via portraiture. Following the signing of the Belfast ‘Good Friday’ Agreement on April 10, 1998, Dunsmore began a dedicated practice of filming video portraits of each of the fourteen signatories– a creative process that took two decades to complete. The resulting artwork, AGREEMENT (2004 – 2023) asks for a similarly committed viewership: seeing the work in its entirety would require weekly visits, as each portrait is being screened for a single week during the fourteen-week exhibition. AGREEMENT is on view at Mitchell Art Gallery from May 21 – August 23, 2024.

The reception will begin with an artist talk by Amanda Dunsmore at 6 p.m. held at the Betty Andrews Recital Hall, followed by a reception at 7 p.m. in the Allard Hall Main Atrium.

———————————————————————————-

The CKUA Events Calendar is a listing of music, arts, and culture happenings for the whole province. It is a terrific resource that CKUA offers to the community, to share details about concerts, gallery openings, plays, and films.

Please note that due to the amount of listings, we publish events that focus on music, arts, or culture. While we’d love to publish all submitted items, the sheer number of events means that we sometimes have to decline submissions.

Need to change or update your submitted event?

Email details to feedback@ckua.com and the CKUA team of calendar volunteers will do the rest.
