All-Night Vigil Presented by Pro Coro Canada
Pro Coro Canada, under the direction of Conductor Michael Zaugg, presents All-Night Vigil at 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 11th, at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 103 Street NW) as well as live-streamed through ProCoroTV (tv.procoro.ca). Pro Coro Canada is joined by Edmonton’s longest-standing chamber choir, Da Camera Singers (dir. Laura Hawley), to perform one of choral history’s greatest treasures, the All-Night Vigil, traditionally known as ‘the Vespers’, by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This a cappella work has been praised as “the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church”, and blends quiet and reflective sections with exquisitely rich harmonies and powerful dynamics. A choral treat not to be missed.
In-person and livestream tickets are available for purchase at www.procoro.ca.
About Pro Coro Canada
Edmonton’s own Pro Coro Canada was founded in 1981 and is one of the leading professional choirs in Canada, currently under the direction of Michael Zaugg. The choir is particularly proud of its composer-in-residence program with internationally renowned composers such as Ugis Praulins, Paul Melor, and Alberto Grau; its appointment as Faculty in the Choral Art program at the Banff Centre; and critically acclaimed tours of four provinces. Pro Coro Canada believes strongly in community partnerships and over the past few years has collaborated with many community choirs as well as mentoring young singers through their Emerging Artist Program.
