The 2023 Annual Hurtig Lecture will be given by Katherine Govier, CM

Katherine Govier CM is the author of 13 works of fiction. Her most recent novel is The Three Sisters Bar & Hotel.  Her previous novel, The Ghost Brush, was published in Japan and worldwide and Creation was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.  Katherine has won the Toronto Book Award and Canada’s Findley-Engel Award for a mid-career writer. Distinguished Alumna of The University of Alberta and of York University, she has also been honoured for Excellence in the Arts by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Katherine founded, directed and was Board Chair of The Shoe Project, a national writing and public speaking workshop for immigrant and refugee women. In 2019 she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
