Shumka’s Mosquito’s Wedding The 3D Movie

Mosquito’s Wedding (All We Need Is Love) is a Shumka production inspired by a traditional Ukrainian folk song. The 50-minute all-ages dance theatre piece features a number of insect characters from various “regions” of Ukraine. The dance lexicon, musical compositions, and sets, costumes and props are associated with these ethnographic regions. The theme of the production is poignant, being one of acceptance, diversity, and overcoming stereotypes.

Mosquito’s Wedding was filmed during Shumka on Tour in 2022 by Northern Gateway Films for a 3-D cinematic experience. The project is funded in part by Canada Council for the Arts: Digital Now Program.
